Founded in 1993 as Direct Innovations producing among initial products neoprene-based bike seat covers, until an epiphany leads to the development of one of the world’s first triathlon wetsuits. Direct Innovations becomes the official wetsuit of the Ironman triathlon and changes its name to Ironman Wetsuits. In 1998 V02 Stealth wetsuits was developed using clinical studies to improve V02 performance. 2005 with increase of propularity and distribution Ironman Wetsuits changes its name to Blueseventy with the meaning that 70% of the world is made up of water. The product team replace the Stealth wetsuit with the Helix Wetsuit range, and introduce a swimming goggle and an open water accessory line leading to a massive sales influx.
Using Neoprene experitise in 2006 the first open water suit designed for Ironman Athletes is realised called the The pointzero3 swimskin. This suit is released at the Hawaii Ironman World championships and is worn by 18 pro athletes including among winner Normann Stadler. A year late Pointzero3 swimskins are worn by half the field at Kona including the men's and women's champions. The pointzero3 is later FINA approved and blueseventy becomes official partner for the FINA Marathon 10K open water series.
From this special PointZero3 suit comes the idea of developing a pool racing suit and in 2008 the Nero Comp suit is born with assistance of development with a team of Australians including National swimmers. The suit is wone by many swimmer at the 2008 Beijing Olympics including inaugural 10K gold Medalist and leukemia survivor, Martin van der Weijden. Athletes set several world records in the pool using Nero Comp swimskins. Simultaneously The Helix wetsuit is voted best triathlon wetsuit in the world by multiple triathlon publications.
Following the FINIA rule changes of 2010 Blueseventy redevelops the pool competition line to textile regulations and renames the line neroTX. Achieved a world first releasing a carbon fiber goggle that is less then half the weight of traditional pool goggles.
Blueseventy has always been about innovation and has continued to win awards and assist many athletes in Triathlon, Open Water and the Pool to be their best, from World Champions, Olympians to participants alike. There motto is always for you to have “ as swim of a lifetime “
